The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) wishes to alert members of the public to the activities of certain fraudsters who introduce themselves as workers of WAEC and also claim to have access to the WAEC results database. These fraudsters contact candidates with the promise of bettering their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers. The sole aim of these swindlers is to make money from their victims by deceit. In their operations, they merely download results slips from the internet, then alter the original grades, and print them out for their victims. This is a scam!!!

The Council wishes to assure members of the public that its results database is well secured. As such, all forged results can be detected by its confirmation/verification system. Institutions and organisations are advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the Council or access the confirmation/verification service online at

Members of the public are enjoined to report the activities of these fraudsters to the nearest WAEC Office, Police Station or call telephone number 0302-208209 Ext.2169.
